Dr. Luisa Rita del Castillo, 'Dr. Rita', who is board certified in General Pediatrics and a fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics, has been practicing for over 28 years. She opened her first solo practice in Little Silver 13 years ago and along with her bilingual staff has provided essential comprehensive care for a diverse community throughout Monmouth County.

Dr. Rita was born and raised in Santo Domingo, D.R. She attended the Univeristy of Santo Domingo, graduating as a Doctor of Medicine in 1982. She finished her residency training in Ponce, Puerto Rico, at St. Luke's Hospital. She then completed a fellowship in General Pediatrics at Cooper Hospital in Camden, N.J.

She enjoyed academic medicine for over four years as Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics for UMDNJ, Camden Campus.

Dr. Rita then went to practice in Freehold NJ for over 8 years at Pediatric Health before she opened her own practice in Little Silver. She is on staff at both Mon-mouth Medical Center in Long Branch and Jersey Shore Medical Center in Nep-tune. She volunteers regularly at the Parker Family Health Center in Red Bank. Dr. Rita is also a clinical professor for the Robert Wood NP program.

She has been married for over 30 years and has 2 children, her daughter-in-law and 2 wonderful grandchildren. She enjoys reading, gardening, travel and exercising.

Dr. Rita is a bilingual pediatrician, speaking fluent English and Spanish who is committed to provide personalized care to all of her patients.
